Patching VMware's networking drivers to deal with slow network performance
On ESXi 4.1, any VM functioning as a routing / packet forwarding device (i.e. virtual router, firewall, etc...) will experience extremely slow performance if you use the VMXNET or VMXNET3 driver. This generally affects CentOS, RHEL5, and probably other Linux O/S'es.
